{"id":6867,"date":"2022-10-25T10:23:43","date_gmt":"2022-10-25T08:23:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/support.mrdm.com\/?page_id=6867"},"modified":"2026-08-04T16:22:04","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T14:22:04","slug":"epsa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/support.mrdm.com\/en\/dica\/ernica\/epsa\/","title":{"rendered":"EPSA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-rounded-corners-4 has-org-color-10-background-color has-background\" style=\"padding-top:48px;padding-right:48px;padding-bottom:48px;padding-left:48px\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<div class=\"acf-block-outcome-set-header\">\n  <div class=\"title\">\n    <h1>EPSA<span><\/span><\/h1>\n  <\/div>\n  <\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The European&nbsp;Paediatric&nbsp;Surgical Audit (EPSA) was developed by the Dutch Institute for Clinical Auditing (DICA) in&nbsp;2014 in collaboration with the Dutch Pediatric Surgical Association.&nbsp;It is&nbsp;established&nbsp;to monitor and improve the quality of care for children born with rare congenital surgical conditions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The EPSA registry currently collects data on eight rare&nbsp;paediatric&nbsp;surgical conditions:&nbsp;Esophageal Atresia,&nbsp;Hirschsprung\u2019s Disease,&nbsp;Omphalocele,&nbsp;Gastroschisis,&nbsp;Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia,&nbsp;Necrotizing Enterocolitis,&nbsp;Malrotation,&nbsp;Anorectal Malformation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The cumulative data in the EPSA can be used to support scientific research, quality improvement&nbsp;initiatives&nbsp;and international collaboration. EPSA also&nbsp;assists&nbsp;in expanding our knowledge on these rare diseases by&nbsp;identifying&nbsp;risk factors of (different types&nbsp;of) surgery, evaluating treatment outcomes and comparing the\u202f<strong>E<\/strong>uropean\u202f<strong>R<\/strong>eference\u202f<strong>N<\/strong>etwork for rare<strong>\u202fI<\/strong>nherited and\u202f<strong>C<\/strong>ongenital (digestive and gastrointestinal)\u202f<strong>A<\/strong>nomalies.\u202fThe network was officially launched in March 2017. ERNICA is a network of expert multi-disciplinary healthcare professionals from\u00a0specialised\u00a0healthcare providers across Europe (\u2018ERNICA\u00a0members\u2019).
